Level 2 EV charger installation cost

Cost mainly depends on distance from the panel, available capacity, and the charger model. Here are the common factors we check before a firm quote.

How EV charger quotes are set

A residential Level 2 EV charger quote depends on the charger model, the dedicated circuit, and the actual route from the panel to the parking location. A short, open run is very different from a detached garage, finished basement, concrete wall, outdoor parking area, or panel upgrade.

A serious quote should specify the charger model, planned circuit, cable path, commissioning, and the documents provided for financial assistance.

What drives the price

Four factors change the final price: distance from panel to charger, available panel capacity, charger model, and the cable route. A finished basement, concrete wall, outdoor parking area, or detached garage adds time and material.

The electrical panel is often the critical point. If dynamic load management is enough, the project stays simpler. If the panel must be upgraded from 100 A to 200 A, the budget changes significantly.

Grant and net cost

Quebec's Écorecharge financial assistance can provide $600 for an eligible home charging station when program conditions are met. Since April 1, 2026, the charger must be connected to be eligible. The request is submitted after installation with the required invoices and proof.

For an initial screen before choosing the model, you can also use the grant eligibility checker.

What's included in an OPEX quote

The quote covers the charger, dedicated 240 V circuit, installation materials, conduit where required, commissioning, and installation documents. Special conditions such as a saturated panel or outdoor parking location are identified before work begins.

Frequently asked questions about cost

Why can two quotes be so different?

They may not include the same scope. Check whether the charger, dedicated circuit, breaker, load management, commissioning, and grant documents are included.

Is the charger included in the price?

In our quotes, yes when the charger is supplied by OPEX. If you already bought a charger, we verify the model, eligibility, and installation requirements before pricing the work.

Do I always need a 200 A panel?

No. Many homes can use dynamic load management. An upgrade becomes relevant when the calculated load, future projects, or building configuration require it.
